Damber Lungeli contacted Hope Sports Complex in late 2016 with an idea of celebrating his culture through soccer.  He is from Nepal and has landed in Lansing to build his life.  Damber and his soccer friends have created Lansing Youth FC, a local soccer club made up of Bhutanese/Nepalese immigrants and refugees.  They have created the Lansing Youth FC Interstate Soccer Tournament to be held at Hope on June 10-11, 2017.

The purpose of this soccer tournament is to celebrate their culture and to encourage and motivate the young Bhutanese talents who are thirsty to show off their soccer talents. All the players are Bhutanese-Nepalese-Americans. There are thousands of Bhutanese refugees settled all over America.  Damber expects twelve-fifteen teams to participate this summer and hopes to grow the event with additional teams in the future.

The Lansing Youth Interstate Soccer Tournament will be a chance for the participants and spectators to get together and meet with their own relatives, friends, and make new friends.  The other goal of hosting this event is to promote their team "LANSING YOUTH FC"- a newly formed Bhutanese/Nepalese team in greater Lansing.  Damber has hopes to raise funds to help sponsor this local team.  The Lansing Youth team will be traveling to other similar tournaments over the summer and hopes to offset some of the expenses with corporate sponsors.

Cleats Bar and Grille will be offering dishes that are indigenous to Nepal, such as fried rice, and vegetable and chicken curry.  The event is open to the public and free to watch.  Please see flyer below for specifics in participation or sponsorship.  We hope to see you there!
